Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is provided by Spark Jobs Platforms ("Spark", "we", "us"), Ontario, Canada, the developer of the Spark Jobs mobile app named on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It describes comprehensively how the Spark Jobs app (iOS and Android) and this website (sparkjobs.ca) access, collect, use, store, share and delete your information. 1. Information we collect, and why

We collect only what the product needs. For each category: what it is, whether it is required, and what it is used for.

• Account identifiers (required): your email address and an account ID. Used to create and secure your account, sign you in, and identify you to employers or gig posters you choose to contact.
• Profile details (optional): name, photo, school, program, skills, interests, availability, work-eligibility status, and general location. Every onboarding step except email is skippable. Used for matching, your profile, and what you choose to show employers.
• Date of birth and region (required only to claim local gigs): used for legal compliance — the app enforces the minimum legal working age for your region before a local gig can be claimed, with stricter rules for higher-risk gig types. Not required for browsing or applying to jobs.
• Approximate location (optional): if you grant the location permission, we use your approximate location to show jobs and gigs near you and to power the distance factor of your match score. You can deny the permission; the app still works and falls back to region-wide results.
• Resumes and files (optional): resume files you upload (PDF, DOCX, text) and the structured resume content you build. Used for the resume builder, ATS-style checks, and — only when you choose — the display resume shown to employers.
• Messages: your user-to-user chat messages (including image attachments) and your Spark Assistant conversations, including a memory summary that keeps the Assistant useful across sessions. Used solely to deliver those features.
• Photos (optional): a profile photo and images you attach to postings or chats.
• App activity: saved jobs, swipe decisions and seen jobs, applications, gig posts and claims, and employer view/interest events. Used to run core features and to show employers aggregate statistics about their own listings (views, saves, applies).
• Purchases: your subscription or entitlement status (for example Spark Pro), received from the app store's billing system. Used to unlock what you paid for. Spark never sees or stores your card details — payment runs entirely through Apple or Google.
• Push token (optional): if you turn notifications on, a push delivery token for your device.
• On this website: only what you type into a form — name, email, company, and your message — plus the page it was sent from. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.

2. What we do NOT collect

• No contacts / address book access — connections inside Spark are in-app only.
• No microphone access (blocked at the build level), no calendar, no SMS or call logs, no browsing history, no health data.
• No advertising ID, no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no tracking of your activity across other companies' apps or websites.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. Ever.

3. Service providers (who processes data on our behalf)

Spark uses a small set of service providers that process data solely to run Spark's own features under agreements restricting them to that purpose:

• Supabase — database, authentication, file storage and server functions (where your account data lives).
• An AI model provider — processes the text you submit to AI features (resume text, job text you ask about, Assistant messages) to generate results for you. Do not paste anything you would not share with a career advisor.
• Expo — push notification delivery (only if you opt in).
• RevenueCat — subscription status processing alongside Apple/Google billing.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing under their own terms.

Job listings shown in the app also come from public job feeds and partners; those listings are public data about jobs, not data about you.

4. How long we keep it, and deletion

• Your data is retained while your account is active.
• Delete in the app any time: Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: profile, resumes and files, saved jobs, applications, messages and attachments, job and gig posts, push tokens, entitlement rows and uploaded storage (avatars, posting images, chat attachments) are erased. There is no recovery window. A minimal deletion audit record (not your content) is retained for security and legal compliance. Full steps: Delete your account.
• No app access? Email denby.alec1234@gmail.com from your account email with subject "Delete my Spark Jobs account"; we verify and complete it within 30 days.
• You can also export your data first: Settings → Download my data.

5. Security

• All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
• Row-level security is enforced on every database table, so your private data is readable only by you and the public projection you control.
• Server-side access controls, rate limits and AI usage quotas bound every sensitive operation.

6. Minors

Spark is built for students, including minors using it with appropriate protections: claiming local gigs enforces your region's minimum legal working age; higher-risk gig types require 18+; and users under 16 need a parent or guardian's consent on file before claiming gigs. Browsing jobs does not require any of this.

7. Your rights and choices (Canada)

Spark operates under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and Canada's anti-spam law (CASL):

• Access, correct or remove your profile details at any time in the app.
• Export a copy of your data (Settings → Download my data).
• Marketing email is opt-in only, off by default, and every message includes unsubscribe. Consent records are kept.
• Push notifications are opt-in and can be turned off in Settings.
• Delete your account and data as described above.
• You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights were not respected.

8. AI features, honestly

Resume tools, job summaries, match explanations and the Spark Assistant use AI. AI output can be wrong or incomplete — always review before you rely on it. It is not legal, career or employment advice. AI on Spark never makes hiring, ranking, moderation or account decisions on its own.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
